About Kate

Foundations are important to me. Consequently, I join the thousands of individuals and companies acknowledging the effects of colonialism on the lands I reside and primarily work on/with:

I am grateful for my home on traditional lands of the Chinookan, Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Cowlitz bands of Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla, Warm Springs, and many other Tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River and in the shadow of Wy’East/Mt. Hood on Turtle Island. They are still here and thriving! My home’s land is at least doubly stolen, as it was farmed with orchards by a Japanese American interned during WW2. He wasn’t given his land back either. Also, this digital technology is not available to many — disproportionally BIPOC folx. It’s part of my job to do my part righting these injustices and supporting their autonomy. How I choose beneficiaries for New Moon Group Tarot, is one small step towards reparations and a more equitable world.

Practice

My first deep yogi, Gabriel Halpern, taught me, “Change your thoughts, change your words. Change your words, change your actions. Change your actions, change the world. But it all starts with your thoughts.” I hold this philosophy to heart and it gets to the core of Tarot’s power.
